WILDERNESS SITES...

The wilderness which houses most Aslan Adventures is amidst the George Washington National Forest, more specifically along the Bull Pasture River in Highland County Virginia.

Your Junior or Senior High church youth group (between 18 and 35 members at a time) can join AAI in the wilderness any time of the year.

--- VIRGINIA ---

Climbing and Rappelling are done in several different places depending on the size of the group - sometimes on the low rock faces along the Bull Pasture River and other times on the high rock fins of the Seneca rock rib (in WV).

Camping will be at our base camp on the breathtakingly beautiful Bull Pasture River 1 mile North of McDowell, Virginia.

Backpacking will be in the Ramsey's Draft Wilderness area of the George Washington Nat'l Forest - level of difficulty is entirely up to you (beginner to advanced).

Caving is done at several Highland County caves - which one is decided by the size and experience level of each group. All the caves are wild (undeveloped) caves on private property and do not have walkways, handrails or track lighting. :)

Canoeing is on the historic and beautiful Shenandoah River or for a little more technical canoeing the James River. Guides and full instruction will be provided with this river option.

Tubing is on the historic and stunning Bull Pasture River. Tubes are free and very relaxing after four days of adventure activities.

Whitewater Rafting options include the New River and Gauley in West Virginia. These options are three hours from the AAI base camp area - so be prepared to drive a little. They are the wildest rivers in the East - so be prepared for some insane whitewater!

--- TENNESSEE ---

Climbing and Rappelling are done in several different places depending on the size of the group - mainly the sandstone cliffs of the Stone Door at Savage Gulf State Park are our rock adventure playground.

Camping will be at the Savage Gulf State Park primitive camping area - outhouses and a spigot, but a beautiful woodland setting.

Backpacking will be on the trails of the South Cumberland State Parks - level of difficulty is entirely up to you (beginner to advanced).

Caving is done at several central Tennessee caves - which one is decided by the size and experience level of each group. One of our favorites is Lost Creek Cave, it's got a waterfall at the entrance, a waterfall inside, the birth canal and the MUD ROOM! All the caves are wild (undeveloped) caves on private property and do not have walkways, handrails or track lighting. :)

Canoeing is on the historic and beautiful Sequachie River. Guides and full instruction will be provided with this river option.

Tubing is also on the Sequachie River. Tubes are free and very relaxing after four days of adventure activities.

Whitewater Rafting will be on the Ocoee River. This option is two and a half hours from the AAI base camp area - so be prepared to drive a little. It is the site of the '96 Summer Olympics Whitewater Kayaking competitions - so be prepared for some insane whitewater!
